We provide a Montessori based cottage school group in Geneva. We dedicated space in my home to create a beautiful environment custom designed for this purpose.

We have walking access to miles of nature trails and wetlands.

Our hands on materials support learners at many different academic levels. We have a capacity of seven students. We have five currently. Students must be above age five.

We allow children to discover their unique gifts and interests then follow these interests to help each student reach his or her individual best. When we see a child's eyes light up with possibility, we have succeeded.

We hope every child will fall in love with learning. It has been our experience that once a child discovers his or her inner motivation and the inherent fun in learning, they become hungry to learn about things they may not have been open to previously. Instead of having students study for a particular test or hastily write a paper, we hope to foster lifelong learners. Over time our students provide their maximum effort because they have learned to enjoy what they do.

Although this sounds unlikely at first, last year the students chose to read Plato, Aristotle, Socrates and Nietsche.

I have 14 years of teaching experience. I have worked with infants, toddlers, preschool children, kindergarten, early elementary, middle school and college students.

Unfortunately, I do not have experience with high school aged children.

We are a small Christian classical school near Oak Park/Chicago. We welcome students of all faiths. We teach Latin, and use Shurley Grammar, Spalding's Writing Road to Reading, Saxon Math, and Bauer's History of the World, among other curriculum. We have part-time preschool, and grades K-8.

The Golden School offers Classical enrichment programs for the elementary and middle grades.

During the 2008-2009 school year, we will offer free classes in First Year Latin, First Year Koine Greek, Vocabulary from Classical Roots and Ancient History. Enrollment is limited to 10 students per class. See our website for more details.

H.E.A.R.T. (Homeschool Enrichment Achieved Respectfully Together) is a nine-month, weekly program for homeschooled children from kindergarten through 8th grade that supplements the teaching they receive at home through qualified instruction in the areas of art, science, Spanish, music and physical education. In addition, students are exposed to a wide variety of other subjects during month-long unit studies taught by parent volunteers.

C.C. is a one-day, comprehensive, academic program that follows a classical method in both the subjects taught and how those subjects are taught. Students are in C.C. classes on Mondays and are responsible to accomplish homework from those classes during the week under their parents' supervision. C.C. serves students in third through twelfth grade.

In graduate school, I gained experience teaching middle school language arts and high school English courses. Additionally, last year I served as a substitute teacher for grades one thru twelve. In this position, I implemented lesson plans on numerous different subject matters, and I also worked individually with students as a tutor. During my internship teaching high school English, I designed a science fiction literature unit and used my curriculum development skills on various other projects. I am interested in teaching the classical curriculum, which hinges on the great books, and working individually with students as a teacher or tutor.

Hi! Our names are Janne Kannelmae and Joanna Praats and we are students from Estonia, Europe, and we are working in Mount Prospect. It"s very nice here and everybody is really friendly :). We are showing The Southwestern Company student handbooks here to families with kids and a lot of families will be getting these books to help out with homework (the set goes from 3.grade up to finishing highschool). Basically it"s a quick ready reference with 69 subjects, world atlas, motivational tips and a lot of shortcuts. It also has German, Spanish, French and Latin languages with dictionaries and these are designed to make the studytime a lot more productive.
A lot of families in Mount Prospect are getting this study program, and their kids go to different schools (Lincoln, Lions, Raymond, Mt. Prospect Highschool, Fairview, St.Paul... ). We thought that this might interest families who do homeschooling, that"s the reason we wrote here (hope it"s the right place!).
If there are any families who might be interested in taking a look at these, they can mail us (we don"t have cellphones in here). If they like the books, that"s great! If not, that"s ok too! We look foward to responses!
