I have been having many problems with my 16 year old daughter and I am considering homeschooling for her. She has been diagnosed with ADHD about three years ago and has and is being treated. Considering the results of the treatments, I am not sure I agree with the diagnosis. My daughter seems to have trouble with peers and peer pressure and she is most definitely a follower. She has failed twice and will fail 9th grade again this year. I thought homeschooling would allow her to focus on academics and not on a social life. At least long enough to catch up a little. She has already informed she will be dropping out as a freshman at the age of 18. My daughter is not slow, she is just lazy. I would appreciate any and all input, advice, resources that any of you have to offer. Thank you so much in advance.

I am a public speaker who has given over 100 powerpoint presentations in Wisconsin and Illinois on my book The Soldiers of Poverty which tells the true story of Civilian Conservation Corps Company 692. This company started out in Makanda, Illinois to develop Giant City Park. In 1935, they were transferred to Mellen, Wisconsin to develop Copper Falls State Park, when the men endured one of the coldest winters in Wisconsin's history. My presentation provides an overview of the Great Depression and the conditions that forced young men 18-25 years old to volunteer their service in the Civilian Conservation Corps. This presentation would be extremely appropriate for a grandparent/student group setting with a "Soup Kitchen Luncheon," where the students could ask questions about the era.
The Soldiers of Poverty is at the Freshman HS reading level but has a glossary of unfamiliar terms from the era in the back. This is also the only book in existence that tells the story of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Wisconin. On March 31, 2008 will be the 75th anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps. I would be honored to schedule a presentation for students at the 6th grade level and up. My speaking fee is $100 for a one-hour presentation and I would like the opportunity to have a book signing and sale afterwards. I also come with 8-large table top displays that could be brought to your site.

We are a traditional Catholic School grades K-12. We are a small school with enrollment of 70 students. We offer Phonics based instruction in the early years, and progress onto Latin studies in the High School. Our courses are well rounded, stressing academics within the Faith of the Catholic Church. Our High School is college prep. We offer the Traditional Mass once a quarter, but Private and Independent, thus we are not affiliated with one specific Parish.
