I am looking for a Spanish tutor for my 1st grade child. She has had some Spanish instruction in her Montessori programs before and thoroughly enjoys learning; she is a gifted Duval County student. I teach her at home in the off hours. She is already reading at a grade 3 or 4 level in english and is advanced in mathematics (doing multiplication and fractions).I am seeking a enthusastic teacher that will teach reading, writing and spoken Spanish for an hour or 2 a week.

My name is Tia Jenkins. I currently teach Spanish in Duval County Public Schools and I also tutor Spanish. I am certified to teach (K-12)in the state of Florida. September 2008, I will be offering Spanish Instruction for home school children. The method that I use for both tutoring and teaching is fun and interactive. It's called Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) you can do a search on the internet to find people who have benefited greatly from this method of instruction. Do you know a child who loves to sing?

Welcome to the wonderful world of children singing! The goal of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is to introduce and develop a love of artistic singing in the children of the First Coast. Through the rehearsal and performance of music representing many cultures and styles, our world is enriched and expanded. It is our hope that your experience in the JCC will bring rich and lasting memories to you and your family.

The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is divided into three choir sections: The Lyric Choir, Treble Choir and Concert Choir. The 2006-2007 season will run from September and end by early May. Rehearsals are held one time weekly from 5:15p.m. to 7:15p.m. on either Tuesdays or Thursdays depending on choir placement. Lyric and Treble Choir rehearsals take place at LaVilla School of the Arts, 501 N. Davis Street, and Concert Choir rehearsals take place at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Avenue.

While prior musical training is not necessary to participate in Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, an audition is required. Children will be placed in the appropriate choir group based on their skills, maturity and readiness.

You do not need to bring a prepared audition piece. The audition process is quick and simple. A conductor will listen for the singer’s ability to match pitches, to learn a simple tune, and to hold one’s voice part against others.
