My wife and I have decided to homeschool our children beginning this fall. We are currently researching various curriculums and materials. We are convinced that the classical curriculum will be most beneficial to our children. We are using the curriculm guides from Memoria, Veritas, and Hillsdale as our starting point.

Saint Philomena is a classical private school based on the teachings of Charlotte Mason and the latest research in education thought.

We work to discover and use each student's strengths while helping them overcome their weaknesses based on Dr. Mel Levine education method.

Group classes are small ( 3-5 ) and geared to support each child's individual learning style.
Daily walks, reading, math and writing will form the backbone of the school day while all the other subjects will be studied on a rotating schedule as unit-studies.
Weekly trips to Library and Museums plus one whole day dedicated to hands-on projects for Science.
The school schedule is from 8:30 to 15:00 Monday to Friday with vacation during Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Holydays.
Enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year starts May 15, 2010.

Private sessions in Mathematics, Science, Piano, Organ or Voice are opened to 3rd to 12 graders.

Each student is registered trough Clonlara- a nationally and internationally acredited institution for homeschoolers.

A history-based curriculum with a biblical perspective augmented with hands-on projects for Science, Math explained through manipulatives and a generous dose of Arts and Music.
Full-time school schedule runs from mid-August to mid-June with summers off: from 8:30 to 15:00 Monday to Friday with vacation during Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Holydays. This schedule assumes no classes outside of St. Philomena’s House, Inc.

The Golden School offers Classical enrichment programs for the elementary and middle grades.

In graduate school, I gained experience teaching middle school language arts and high school English courses. Additionally, last year I served as a substitute teacher for grades one thru twelve. In this position, I implemented lesson plans on numerous different subject matters, and I also worked individually with students as a tutor. During my internship teaching high school English, I designed a science fiction literature unit and used my curriculum development skills on various other projects. I am interested in teaching the classical curriculum, which hinges on the great books, and working individually with students as a teacher or tutor.

I have three years homeschooling experience in the classical method. I also have experience leading co-op English and writing courses. I will be returning to school in the fall to get my MS in Education. I am available to do tutoring over the summer and/or helping lead co-op classes.
